Full back
A good fullback would be an excellent play maker and should have a huge boot. Full backs a usually athletically built and are over 6ft tall so they are good at claiming high balls. They have to do a lot of running in both attack and defence.
Scrum and Line outs
The full back isn't directly involved in a line out or scrum, but they have to be ready to attack if they receive the ball and ready to catch any kicks.
General Play
In general play the full back is the last line of defence and has to be a great tackler and has to be great at competing for kicks. As one of the fastest players on the pitch they are utilised in attacking play as well. They are great at adding extra pace to the game with their penetrating running, this means they have to be good at having the ball in hand. The fullback is also another kicking option if they are pinned deep in their own half.
